OLLI at Emory University
In 2023, I taught two 7-week courses: Spanish Level I and Spanish Level II as part of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The course was well supported by administrators and the classroom was designed for Hyflex, using Zoom for online students and large presentation project equipment, audio, remote controls, and course video recordings. The students were also fun to engage with during their learning process.
Being responsible for course teaching, I created the syllabi and learning materials for both courses based on three Spanish language books and my own Spanish language experience exceeding 40 years. The main focus of these courses was to become conversational, with limited focus on advanced language skills. In addition, to support the students in their learning, I took initiative to develop a website, which was not required by OLLI at Emory administrators.
